Ten minutes and my ID just for allergy medicine?

Have you ever wondered what happened to all of the cough and cold syrup you just bought or why it takes 10 minutes and identification to buy your allergy medicine? When we say get "high", you may be laughing about that time you accidentally sniffed a permanent marker or felt woozy after painting. Unfortunately, teenagers and young adults are seeking this temporary feeling of euphoria in a rather dangerous manner. The misuse of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs is becoming more and more common. Three to four bottles of cough and cold medicine or whole packages (up to 30 pills) are being taken at once. Recommended doses are given on medications because they provide a SAFE and therapeutic level of the drug. Going above these levels can lead to unwanted side effects of nervousness, paranoia, panic, and nausea amongst others. Laws are being put into action to limit the abuse of purchase of products containing psuedoephedrine (a nasal decongestant) and dextromthorphan (a cough suppressant). But do these prohibitions go far enough? Are they really bringing down the incidence of misuse? We will let you be the judge. Please venture through our blog and don't miss the videos and links for more information on the left.
